This is really part 2 to yesterday’s post. I’ve made a decision regarding the bike, now I’ve got to review the kit.
This is most of it.
Starting from top left there is…
- Tent and 3/4 Sleeping Mat
- Waterproof Jacket (I’ve decided not to take the trousers as well)
- Mini Towel
- Camping Light
- First Aid Kit
- Portable Battery
- Sleeping Bag
- Chain Link
- Puncture Repair Kit
- Frame Bag
- Saddle Bag
And unpictured there’s the two panniers, and the bottle on the bike… And some food bars… And the phone I used to take the photo.
And another cheap, bombproof PAYG phone for emergencies.
There’s really not a lot I can cut out.
I’ll be carrying it all most of the time, although there are a couple of days I can meet up with it again at the finish point – the last day in particular will be a very much cut down essentials list as the wife will be waving me off from Dartmoor at silly o’clock in the morning on the final leg.
“Is there anything I’ve forgotten?” is, I guess, a more important question than “is there anything I can leave behind?”… Time will tell.
